Patrick 2020 Méthode Cab Nouveau

 

Regular readers will probably have gleaned that I am a traditionalist when it comes to my wine choices; "natural". "amber" and "on-the-spectrum" wines have their place - but that place is rarely in my mouth. There are, however, exceptions to every rule and I really enjoyed this experimental cabernet from Luke Tocaciu and family-owned Patrick Wines in Coonawarra.  This is an "early release" style that is soft and juicy and approachable and designed to be enjoyed in its youth. Spontaneous ferment, malo, lees contact. You could even give it a bit of a chill. It has apparently been a big hit and is close to selling out. $32. https://patrickofcoonawarra.com/
